Fans have been waiting a long time before Conor McGregor returns to the Octagon in the UFC, but they will not have to wait much longer to see their Irish hero return to the competition on Oct. 6 at UFC 229 at Las Vegas. The two-division champion will be back in what he does best when he defies undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov to try to recover the title for which he has never been beaten.

The bad blood between these two events goes back to the weekend of April and to UFC 223, where McGregor and his team performed the infamous bus attack looking for Nurmagomedov in Brooklyn. Later that weekend, Nurmagomedov then won the former McGregor title by imposing himself against Al Iaquinta. The two men recently clashed in New York at a press conference to promote the event, and of course, McGregor has not lost the opportunity to turn himself into a regular fan favorite.
In the main event of the evening, it appears that the UFC has an insurance policy for the main event. Former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and former champion Anthony Pettis are officially on the map and could serve as substitutes if McGregor or Nurmagomedov were injured. When the match Ferguson vs. Pettis was added to the UFC 229 card, the heavyweight showdown between Derrick Lewis and Alexander Volkov was interrupted by the main co-event.
With an event of this magnitude, many are planning to visit T-Mobile Arena to see the action. The UFC has announced ticket prices for UFC 229, and Ariel Helwani of ESPN has provided this information.
