"We have identified two separate fiber clippings unrelated to our core network providers," Comcast said Friday after customers. Xfinity, its Internet service provider, reported large-scale disruptions.

"Our engineers worked immediately to solve the problem and services are now restored to residential and commercial Internet, video and voice customers".

Comcast subsequently identified the relevant suppliers as CenturyLink Inc. and Zayo Group Holdings Inc., telecommunications companies that maintain the infrastructure used by Comcast's customers, reported Reuters.

"While the CenturyLink network continues to operate normally we have experienced two isolated fiber breaks in North Carolina affecting some customers who, by themselves, do not cause problems experienced by other pro viders. Currently, our technicians are working to restore the services, "CenturyLink said in a statement

." Earlier in the day, Zayo suffered a fiber cut in the New York area.We immediately sent our local team quickly restored the cut, and all affected services in the area have been restored, "Zayo spokesperson told CNET

Comcast currently has about 25 million broadband Internet customers in the United States.
