After deadly attacks on Friday in the city of Beni, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ebola activities continue.

Although all staff of WHO, the Ministry of Health and partners are safe and responsible, 16 WHO staff members have been evacuated to Goma for psychological care after their home hit by a shell that did not explode.

Ebola control operations were underway but limited to Beni on Saturday.

Vaccination was suspended and the operations center was closed, but teams have always visited communities to track potential case alerts, meet contacts, make sure they are going always well and bring patients to treatment centers. The treatment centers, managed by partners, remained operational.

The response was not affected in areas outside Beni. On Sunday, all activities were revived, including vaccination.
"WHO will continue to work alongside the ministry and our partners to end this Ebola outbreak," said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of WHO. "We honor the memory of those who have died in battle, and we deplore the threats to the security of those who are still trying to put an end to it."
