The lawsuit filed by a Louisiana teenager and 20 other youths against the federal government was halted by the US Supreme Court 10 days before the trial began, reports E & E News. The order made Friday, Oct. 19 by Chief Justice John Roberts has procured the Trump administration a temporary victory in its long-term efforts to bring the case out of court.

Roberts froze the discovery and trial in federal court in Eugene, Oregon, pending further information from the plaintiffs. according to The Register-Guard. Among them is Jayden Foytlin, a resident of Rayne, who was 14 when she joined the Our Children's Trust lawsuit against the Obama administration in 2015.

The complainants allege that the federal government has long ignored the risk of burning fossil fuels, which they say disrupts natural weather patterns. The government says the issue is an inappropriate political issue for the courts.
