WASHINGTON – Senator Cory Booker has sent staff to Iowa, fueling speculation about his presidential aspirations for 2020.

According to the Guardian, the New Jersey Democrat has placed four field collaborators in the first and influential state caucus to help in the election of local Democratic candidates.

The assistant intervenes while Booker in recent days has sought to elevate his national political profile.

He made a show on Thursday at Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court confirmation hearings, releasing previously confidential documents and claiming a "I'm Spartacus" moment.

Meanwhile, his GOP colleagues said his White House aspirations were not an excuse to challenge the committee's rules.

Booker announced Saturday that he will be the keynote speaker at the Iowa Democratic Party's annual Fall Gala.

He declined to say whether he was testing the presidential waters, but said he wanted to help the Iowa Democrats to be elected.

"Let's put it this way: the way to get a balance sheet and balance for the President of the United States, it must go through Iowa," Booker told the Monks' Registry. "And that's why I have to go through Iowa."

Iowa has an extraordinary impact in the presidential primaries, helping to defeat overcrowded candidate fields and inspire enthusiasm for the viable hopes of the White House.
