WARMINSTER, PA – The Bucks County Health Department will spray mosquitoes on Thursday in Warminster.

West Nile. Mosquito habitats will be sprayed from onboard equipment in residential areas and in parks.

In Warminster, the areas to be treated are delineated by Evergreen Drive, Lemon Street, Madison Avenue and Hawthorne Street. The area bounded by Veterans Way, Byron Road, Decker Lane, McGlynn Road, Longstreth Road and East Street Road will also be treated.

The trucks used in the spray will be marked with the logos of Bucks County seals on the doors.

Some mosquito species carry West Nile virus, which can cause West Nile encephalitis, an infection that can lead to inflammation of the brain. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, all residents in areas where viral activity has been identified are at risk of contracting West Nile encephalitis.

Weather conditions and other unplanned events could delay or cancel this spraying operation. If the conditions do not allow an application Thursday, the health department will try again on Friday.
