11:26 p.m.: The Eagles got the ball at their own 30 with 3:14 in the game and started to drive down the field. But on 3rd-and-2, they ran a screen pass to Corey Clement that lost five yards. And then on 4th-and-7, Carson Wentz’s pass to Zach Ertz went for six yards and was just short — the official ruled — of the first down.
After the defense got a quick stop, the offense had one more chance, but couldn’t get it into the end zone. On the last play of the game, Zach Ertz caught a deep ball in the middle of the field and pitched it to Golden Tate, but he was tackle at the 9 as time ran out.
The Eagles lost an absolute heart-breaker.
Cowboys 27, Eagles 20
11:05 p.m.: The Eagles’ defense has evaporated. For the second time this second half after the offense tied up the game, the defense gave up a 75-yard touchdown to give back the lead. This time, Dallas went 75 yards on eight plays and passed on the Eagles at will. There’s 3:19 left in the fourth quarter.
Cowboys 27, Eagles 20
10:57 p.m.: The Eagles have life! Carson Wentz hit Nelson Agholor for a huge 51-yard pass down the left side of the field and a few plays later hit Zach Ertz for his second touchdown of the game. Agholor now has three 50-plus yard catches this season. There’s 7:27 left.
Eagles 20, Cowboys 20
10:47 p.m.: After the Eagles scored their first touchdown of the game to tie the game at 13-13, the Eagles’ defense gave up a 75-yard touchdown drive to give the lead right back. Dak Prescott hit Zeke Elliott for a 7-yard touchdown pass for the score. The Eagles are without their top three corners and it’s showing.
Cowboys 20, Eagles 13
10:43 p.m.: After three quarters, we have a tied game: 13-13.
Ronald Darby (knee) has been ruled out, while Nelson Agholor (stinger) will return.
10:37 p.m.: After the Cowboys missed the field goal, the Eagles finally got a touchdown drive. And they finally converted their first third down after going 0-for-5 to start the game. The touchdown came on a 15-yard pass from Carson Wentz to Zach Ertz, who has been consistently great all season. Tied game!
Eagles 13, Cowboys 13
10:28 p.m.: Cowboys kicker Brett Maher missed a 42-yarder wide right and the Eagles have more new life. That wiped out a drive where Zeke Elliott had gains of 15 and 35.
10:18 p.m.: The Eagles got the ball at their own 45-yard line and were able to move down the field to get a 26-yard field goal. Zach Ertz had a couple first-down catches on the drive. Carson Wentz’s third down pass to Alshon in the end zone wasn’t a good pass. It came too late and the Eagles missed points because of it. There’s still plenty of time to go in the third quarter.
Cowboys 13, Eagles 6
10:08 p.m.: Michael Bennett killed a guy. Eagles get off to a good start in the second half.

9:51 p.m.: The Eagles kicked a field goal and then got a big sack on Dak Prescott, so they started using their timeouts with less than two minutes remaining in the half. That backfired.
The Cowboys were facing a 3rd-and-15 and they picked up a gain of 25 yards. Prescott passed the ball to Michael Gallup and Rasul Douglas failed to make a play. This isn’t the first time the Eagles’ defense has given up a play like that.
In fact, the Eagles have now given up five first downs when their opponents have been facing either 3rd-and-15 or 4th-and-15 or longer. That’s ridiculous.
From there, the Cowoboys were able to punch in the game’s first touchdown and get the ball back after half. As the Eagles went into the locker room at halftime, the boos were loud. They’re in danger of losing to a bad Cowboys team and virtually kissing their playoff hopes goodbye.
Cowboys 13, Eagles 3
9:40 p.m.: Jake Elliott drilled his first 50-plus yard kick of the season to give the Eagles their first points. His 56-yard field goal with under two minutes in the first half was a beautiful kick. The Eagles nearly converted a deep ball from Carson Wentz to Alshon Jeffery, but Chidobe Awuzie knocked it away at the last second.
Cowboys 6, Eagles 3
9:27 p.m.: The Cowboys traveled 64 yards on 14 plays to add another field goal. The big play of the drive was that insane run from Zeke Elliott. Again, though, the Eagles defense held in the red zone. This time, Michael Bennett got a sack on third down.
Cowboys 6, Eagles 0
9:20 p.m.: Tre Sullivan is still on the field trying to find Zeke Elliott. He has launched a search party. Yikes.

9:08 p.m.: The Eagles squandered a scoring chance when they failed on a 4th-and-1 from the Cowboys’ 20-yard line. Josh Adams was dropped for a loss of three as the line was blown up on the play. Adams had a 29-yarder to get the Eagles into scoring range. Doug Pederson stayed aggressive and this time, his team lost out on points.
8:59 p.m.: At the end of the first half, the Eagles offense needs to get something cooking. Wentz’s interception is the difference in this game, but we still have three quarters to go.
Cowboys 3, Eagles 0
8:42 p.m.: The Cowboys take the first lead in the game, but the Eagles’ defense held up once they go tin the red zone, forcing an incompletion on third down. Give credit to Brandon Graham for a QB hit on the third down. The Cowboys went 31 yards after getting the ball back from a Carson Wentz INT, but couldn’t punch it in. There’s 6:59 left in the first.
Cowboys 3, Eagles 0
8:30 p.m.: The Eagles and Cowboys traded 3-and-outs to start the game, but the Eagles get good field position after a nice 12-yard punt return from Golden Tate. Newcomer Cre’Von LeBlanc had a nice block on the return.
But then Carson Wentz was picked off by Leighton Vander Esch. Wentz never saw him.

7:36 p.m.: These teams really are rivals. Some tempers flared during pregame workouts between the Eagles and Cowboys. Several players had to be separated from the scrum. The NBC video shows Jalen Mills, who is inactive tonight, was in the middle of it all. Here’s the view I had from the end zone. I ran over to that side of the field to get a shot of it.

In the NBC video, you can see Mills getting into a shoving match with Cowboys coach Kris Richard.

6:56 p.m.: Lane Johnson is OUT for tonight’s game. Big blow for the Eagles, who will start Halapoulivaati Vaitai. Johnson was going to try to play through an MCL sprain, but won’t play tonight.
Here are the Eagles’ inactives:
Lane Johnson (knee)
Jalen Mills (foot)
Sidney Jones (hamstring)
Darren Sproles (hamstring)
Matt Pryor
Nate Sudfeld
Diondre’ Hall
6:33 p.m.: Golden Tate took the field for early warmups and got a huge hands from the few dozen fans who were already in the stands. As he warmed up, the fans kept yelling encouraging things to him and Tate had a sheepish grin. Welcome to Philly.

5:03 p.m.: Lane Johnson came into the weekend listed as questionable with that sprained left MCL and he’s apparently not a definite to play.
Inactives have to be announced at 6:50 p.m. tonight.
I’m told that it’s 50-50 if Lane Johnson plays tonight … he’s getting additional treatment , and team will wait until he goes thru warmups to see how he feels to determine if he’s able to go. If not Big V starts in his place.

4:02 p.m.: The Bucs had a ton of chances but they blew all of them and let Washington win in Tampa Bay on Sunday afternoon, 16-3. That means Washington moves to 6-3 and will still have a lead in the NFC East tomorrow morning no matter what happens tonight.
The Eagles don’t play Washington until Dec. 3. They also play them in the season finale on Dec. 30.
3:56 p.m.: Just a reminder, it’s a black out tonight at the Linc. People seem pretty excited about the Eagles in their black jerseys.

3:49 p.m.: It’s a beautiful sunny day (a little cold) for tailgaters in South Philly. At least the sun is shining bright.

2:24 p.m.: It’s halftime for most of the 1 p.m. games. Here’s a look at some scores with NFC teams:
Redskins 6, Buccaneers 3
Saints 35, Bengals 7
Bears 26, Lions 7
Browns 14, Falcons 10
Chiefs 20, Cardinals 7
That Washington game is the one Eagles fans are obviously watching today. Washington got a field goal late in the half to take a lead, but they haven’t looked very good in Tampa Bay. In fact, the Bucs are out-gaining them 279-136 but haven’t been able to score.
And it doesn’t look like the Saints are going to slow down before they host the Eagles next week.
2 p.m.: We still have hours before kickoff, but Eagles fans are ready to tailgate. And they’re ready for the Birds to put the Cowboys out of their misery.
Eagles fans lined up real early this morning to tailgate

8:40 a.m.: Good morning, everyone. We’ve got a little less than 12 hours until kickoff, so it’s going to be a long day.
In the meantime, check out the 5 matchups to watch.
And my column saying Golden Tate needs to come in and hit the ground running.
The game to keep an eye is Washington at Tampa Bay at 1 p.m. With an Eagles win and a Redskins loss, they’ll both be 5-4.
