The Oakland Raiders may want a first-round pick to deal with Amari Cooper, but a team was not scared by the cost.
ESPN 's Adam Schefter reported Sunday morning that the Dallas Cowboys were "doing due diligence" with regard to the former pick of the first round in Alabama.
"The Cowboys have contacted people who know the Cooper, aged 24, by gathering as much information as possible about him, while reflecting on the question of whether or not to change the selection of the first round, according to sources.And the Cowboys are not alone; the Raiders heard requests for information on Cooper from, inter alia, Washington Redskins and Indianapolis Colts, according to a league source."
The first round choice may seem like a high price, but do not forget that it is Jerry Jones who would be making the call. In 2008, the owner of the Cowboys sent the first, third, sixth and seventh picks to the Detroit Lions for Roy Williams. Admittedly, this decision did not work for Dallas because Williams had trouble organizing key receptions. He never spilled 1,000 yards during his three-year stint, hitting only 596 points in his best season. However, he was effective as a threat to the red zone, capturing 13 touchdowns.
Cooper, on the other hand, was a talented weapon for the Raiders, although she did more than a few drops. The coach had a 1,000-yard field season to start his career, but struggled in his third season due to injuries and mistakes.
