Cowboys may have been deprived of overtime during week 7

Has the Dallas Cowboys been deprived of a chance to go into overtime on Sunday? In the team's 20-17 loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 7, Dallas was called for a controversial penalty that could have cost the team dearly.

Three seconds from the end, the Cowboys lined up to score 47 points. Before the ball was broken, Washington lineman Da'Ron Payne appeared to be out of the game. At first, it was assumed that Dallas would get even closer.

This was not the case. Cowboys long snapper L.P. Ladouceur was called for an immediate offense. The Cowboys had to go back five meters.

Brett Maher could not hit from 52 yards, hitting the vertical with his kick. If the team had come close to five meters, it is possible that the kick Maher has divided the amounts very closely, which would have made the situation more difficult.

Following the match, the official NFL Twitter account explained why Ladouceur had been called to grief.

In the video, Ladouceur lowered the ball to better take the angle. It was enough for the referees to whistle.

The problem is that Ladouceur did exactly the same thing at the next snapshot … and nothing was called. According to the Washington Post, Ladouceur could not understand why he had been penalized for something he did every time he went there.

"I've never had that before," Ladouceur said. "I do exactly the same thing every time. That's what I said to referees: I'm doing exactly the same thing.

Ladouceur could be a biased source considering his role in the play. Nick Sundberg, a long-time player from Washington, admitted that it was not a general penalty, although he thought Ladouceur's moves were "exaggerated".

NBC analyst Tony Dungy did not have that. He compared the video of the two rooms one after the other and he could not tell how Ladouceur 's shot was different the second time.

The only person not to complain about the penalty is the guy who missed it. After the match, Maher said the penalty "had no impact on the outcome of that kick."

The loss came at a terrible time for Dallas. With a win, the team would have taken first place in the east of the NFC. Instead, the team is 3-4, and ranks below Washington in the rankings.
