The Cowboys received a boost to their offensive last month thanks to an exchange with the Raiders against Amari Cooper, and Dallas is confident that the wide receiver will have an immediate impact.
Quarterback Dak Prescott said the practices have become more intense with the addition of Cooper, calling them "chippy".
"That's only positive energy," Prescott said Friday about Cooper (via USA Today). "The practices become chippy, and chippy for the right reasons."
Prescott then congratulated Cooper for his "quickness" and speed, saying the 24-year-old receiver would bring a lot to the Cowboys' offensive.
"The rapid contraction," Prescott said. "The rapid contraction and then this transition to the explosive that he has. That's a guy on the line, his releases, you shake your head like, 'Dang.'
"He's a fast guy who has a lot to offer."
The Cowboys intend to use Cooper immediately as offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said he would start Monday against the Titans.
"He's going to start wide receiver and play a lot of shots," Linehan said of Cooper's role against the Titans, by SportsDay. "We are going to determine how much a little more the day before the match, we do not really put him in. He has a heavy workload, and we are just going to watch him and see where he is and how much he is playing in certain situations. For now, we have no limit with what we do with him. "
Cooper, originally selected by the Alabama Raiders with the fourth pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, has 22 receptions for 280 yards and one touchdown in six games this season. He had a disappointing year in 2017, however, as he had only 48 receptions for 680 yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games.
