Threat of wildfires in the Inland Empire is high. Conditions are mostly blamed on the lack of rainfall compared to the heavy precipitation that pulled California out of its drought last year, but increased vegetation in the process.

A fast-moving 800-acre wildfire is forcing evacuations in the San Jacinto

The Cranston Fire was reported about noon off Highway 74 in an area between Hemet and Mountain Center, according to the US Forest Service.

The agency reported that Highway 74 is

"We have mandatory evacuations right now for southwest Idyllwild – that's a couple hundred acres." There's road closures, "said Zach Behrens, a spokesman for San Bernadino National Forest.

The wildfire is "at zero percent contained," said Rebecca Miller, spokesperson for the national forest.
