Ronaldo has won the Ballon d'Or five times

Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo is not in the Portugal team for this month's international matches against Poland and Scotland.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United player was rested for the Portugal internationals in September.

On Wednesday, the 33-year-old denied having allegedly raped Kathryn Mayorga in 2009 in Las Vegas.

Ronaldo said that he was calm on "all inquiries" as he had a "clear" awareness of the allegation.

The Portuguese captain missed Tuesday's victory over Juventus in the Champions League against Young Boys.

Ronaldo, five-time winner of the Golden Ball, who joined Juventus for £ 99.2m in July, has scored 85 goals in 154 matches for his country and won the Euro 2016.

"In the future, nothing will prevent Cristiano from contributing to the national team," said Portugal coach Fernando Santos.

In September, Santos said Ronaldo had missed international matches against Croatia and Italy as the player needed time to adjust to his Real Madrid move.

Portugal will travel to Poland in the Uefa Nations League on 11 October, before traveling to Scotland for a friendly match on 14 October.
