The US Coast Guard was responding on Buzzards Bay, an official said.

The Coast Guard was notified that the vessel became under investigation after 3:15 p.m., Coast Guard Petty Officer Nicole Groll said. As of 4:15 pm, the ship was located between Woods Hole and Martha's Vineyard in the Bay, she said. No injuries were reported, according to the Coast Guard.

In the twilight, the Coast Guard said the "Star Pride is anchored and holding," and that commercial tugboats were on the road. A helicopter from Cape Cod Air Station also responded to the scene Friday afternoon, according to the Coast Guard.

Shortly after 5:30 pm, officials said the ship is still in power.

The ship's engines were running shortly after 6 pm, but it was still at anchor at that time. How the ship became disabled under investigation, Groll said.

"We are focused on determining the safety of the passengers and the crew," she said.

It was unclear where groll said, where it was headed, and what caused it to become disabled.

"That'll be under investigation," she said.

Groll said she did not know the brand that operated the ship.
