Atlanta Falcons' safety Damontae Kazee was sent off in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers for hitting Cam Newton after the quarterback slipped on a run.

While Newton converted a fourth and fourth try with a race, Kazee seemed to be going into the quarter. A fight between the two teams broke out shortly afterwards.

Newton went to the sideline and the medical tent to be evaluated but returned to the game without missing a play. He crowned the record with a 5-yard shot at Jairus Wright.

Kazee, a second year San Diego State safety, was expected to play a more important role in the Falcons' high school after Keanu Neal lost to a torn anterior cruciate ligament at the end of the season.

Newton expressed his dissatisfaction with the blow after the Falcons' 31-24 win, stating that it was a "low blow".

"It was explicit, what had to happen, happened," said Newton, according to Joe Person of The Athletic. "This game is not suitable for low shots like that."
