UFC President Dana White said he was furious at what had happened after Khabib Nurmagomedov had put Conor McGregor in the shelter of the scuffle that marked the end of UFC 229 a few weeks ago.
He also thought everyone liked the madness:
For me personally, all the work that I put in the last 20 years of my life … I did not want to see him down that way. I was upset about it. I was the only one. The rest of the world does not care.
For me it was our greatest moment, the greatest number of people to watch, and that's not what we are. And it's not even who is Khabib. He said many times after the fight that he had gone mad after the fight and that it happened sometimes. This is the case of the fight.
But yes, I was the most upset guy on the planet after this fight. No one else cared.
White also explained how they had handled the fight and why they had not given the belt to Khabib in the octagon:
We had this thing in less than 40 seconds. I made the decision not to put the belt (Khabib) inside of the octagon because I did not think that it would be safe. was sure, I did not think we would have a good reaction from the fans. Everyone came out of there, okay. No fans were injured, no one was injured. Nobody was hurt in this case and we managed it fairly quickly.
White added that he had not thought of giving Conor an immediate rematch against Khabib.
But you must think that at some point, they will return this one.
