Daniel Bryan's footsteps have left footprints on Brock Lesnar's face at the WWE Survivor Series

The main event in the Survivor series saw Daniel Bryan eat a constant punishment regime from Brock Lesnar. But when the time came for the WWE Champion to play his own offense, Bryan made him count.

After a low blow that gave him an advantage, Bryan launched a desperate assault on Lesnar. The beast landed on one knee, then Bryan grabbed Lesnar's arms and slapped the universal champion's face. Bryan's footsteps seemed stiff and in a few moments, the imprint of his boot was literally tattooed on Lesnar's face.

Bryan launched AJ Styles last week on SmackDown live. That moment seemed to cement Bryan's turn, but juxtaposed to Lesnar's Survivor Series, Bryan played the role of a smart underdog. Many fans were confused to let Bryan enter such an important match with Lesnar as a stub, but that did not matter. Bryan against Lesnar was the best game of Survivor Series.

While Bryan counted his boots, it was Lesnar who dominated 90% of the match. He played with Bryan's carcass with a series of suplexes, but after the referee was knocked out, Bryan finally had an opportunity. Now that he's no longer a pure hero, a low shot seems to be part of his repertoire. Byan did not hesitate to use this tactic to temporarily take over Lesnar.

Despite the low blow and the many moving knees, Lesnar was about to get through the Bryans' attack and deliver an F-5 that ended the match.

Technically, Survivor Series game Bryan and Lesnar had no stake. But that did not stop the game from feeling special. No matter how many WWE fans lamented Lesnar, he turned out to be a major asset to Vince McMahon. All his fights feel big, and even though no title was in play, Lesnar vs. Bryan carried a sense of urgency that made us all want to see more.

In just one week, Bryan has gone from one guy in a slowdown to one of the most compelling acts of the WWE. Who knows where the WWE will take his new characters, but Bryan is steeped in an energy that did not exist seven days ago.

For Lesnar, it seems that Braun Strowman is next, probably at the Royal Rumble.
