Daniel Cormier postpones WWE commentary tryout to train for UFC 230

Cormier is a life-long professional wrestling fan and has watched multiple pro-wrestling events as a spectator, including Wrestlemania 31. He has even gotten into Twitter feuds with indy darlings Cody Rhodes – sound of the legendary "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes – and the Bullet Club.

A potential future with the WWE has been on Cormier's radar for quite some time. Back in April, he said he would love to put his broadcasting skills to use outside of mixed martial arts. "Having to wrestle a match, that's crazy at this point to learn to have to wrestle. That could be crazy, man. But I would like to comment on some matches, "he said, according to Cageside Seats. "I think that would be fun for me."

Cormier is a natural on the microphone and has quickly developed as one of UFC's first voices at the commentary desk.

UFC 230 takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, Cormier defends his heavyweight title against Lewis in the headliner. The co-main event features Chris Weidman has his way to his 2015 loss to Luke Rockhold. Ronaldo Souza vs. David Branch and Derek Brunson vs. Israel Adesanya also makes up the main card.
