Daniel Jacobs and Sergiy Derevyanchenko share a manager and a coach. They played at least 300 rounds together earlier in their career.

This victory makes Jacobs the main contender for the first defense of the titles won by Canelo Alvarez against Golovkin last month in Las Vegas. Alvarez will face Rocky Fielding as part of a development battle that will take place Dec. 15 in New York and should not be competitive at all. A match with Jacobs, however, will be and this is the one Jacobs said he wanted.
