NEW YORK – Quick stop Dansby Swanson will miss the rest of the regular season with a torn ligament in the left hand, announced the Braves Wednesday.
Swanson was diagnosed when he returned to Atlanta on Wednesday to be evaluated by Dr. Gary Lourie, the team's chief physician. Swanson's discomfort, aged 24, lies between his ring finger and his left wrist. This is not the same thing that bothered Swanson when he missed two weeks in May with left wrist inflammation.

The Braves' medical staff will provide daily treatment in Atlanta for the rest of the week, then reevaluate Swanson to find out if he could be available when the National League division series kicks off next Thursday.
As Swanson remains unavailable, Braves manager Brian Snitker will start taking over Charlie Culberson, which has proven to be a valuable support when he replaced Dodgers Corey Seager at last year 's NL championship series.
Snitker has the opportunity to move Johan Camargo Short-term and playing Culberson at third base, but he did not want to move Camargo, who ranks second among all the third MLB baseball with six defensive rounds saved. Swanson ranks sixth among shortstops with 11 DRS.
"Johan is third for so long and a lot this year," Snitker said. "S & he must leave [to shortstop] he is capable I think now, defensively with our team, we can maximize by putting Charlie out short. "
Culberson caught the attention of the world of baseball last year when he played 5-in-11 with two doubles and a triple in the NLCS against the Cubs. His production allowed him to earn extra playing time in the World Series, where he went 3-for-5 with a circuit against the Astros.
Before becoming an unexpected hero in October, Culberson was limited last season to his bats on September 13, after spending the first five months of the season at the Triple-A level.
This year's trip was very different for Culberson, who became a fan favorite while serving as a valuable backup to Atlanta. He competed 12 times and compiled 280 at-bats, many of which were counted as he was the leading left defender when Ronald Acuna Jr. missed a month with a left knee injury.
"We are fortunate to have Charlie because he is always ready, no matter where he is, whether in the field or field," Snitker said. "It's not like he had not played a lot of shortstop."
Swanson showed some promise when he averaged .327 (16-in-49) with four home runs in a 14-game match from August 17 to September 7. 2. But he only hit .161 with a .526 OPS on the 19 games that followed.
