Solo actors Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix Joker The film continues to add popular DC characters to the fold and it looks like Bruce Wayne is next on the list.
ComicBook.com confirms that young actor Dante Pereira-Olson was chosen Joker like Bruce Wayne, the boy who will eventually become Batman. This casting comes just after Douglas Hodge got the role of Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce's butler and future guardian. The cast will bring together Pereira-Olson and Phoenix, who recently played together in the critically acclaimed thriller You have never really arrived.
Taking place in the 80s, Joker will show a time before both of Bruce's parents were murdered. Brett Cullen will play the father of the child, Thomas Wayne, a role that was left vacant when Alec Baldwin retired from the film.
Joker stars also Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Glenn Fleshler, Marc Maron, Josh Pais and Shea Whigham. Phoenix will assume the lead role of the Joker, also known as Arthur Fleck. The film will be directed by Hangover the pilot Todd Phillips.
Despite the fact that Joker is based on comic book characters, Phoenix sees it as a kind of movie in itself, very different from the other adventures of Marvel and DC.
"I would not describe it as any kind of music," Phoenix said in a recent interview. "I would not say that it's a superhero movie, a studio movie or a … and probably the most important thing is that Todd looks very passionate and very generous, and that's what it's all about." So, it's exciting, I think under the excitement of these films and their size, there are these incredible characters who have to face real problems, and sometimes it's discovered and exposed, and sometimes it's that's not the case, and I've always felt that some comic characters were really interesting and deserved the opportunity to be studied, and so I think that's what Todd thinks is attractive to about this idea. "
