On Thursday afternoon, Kanye West had a strange meeting with President Trump at the White House, where the musician spoke continuously for ten minutes about this, this and the other. (Or rather, MAGA hats, Montessori schools, and how to improve SNL.) Previously, West had appeared on TMZ to make poetry about slavery and the Democratic Party. Well, West's additional thoughts on Trump are back at his old boyfriend Dave Chappelle and let's just say that he's not very happy that Ye loves the POTUS sanctuary – but he's not not "crazy" as you might think. "He's my brother, I love him, I support him, but you know, I do not have to agree with everything he says," Chappelle explained. CNN interview with Van Jones "I just trust him as a person of intent, but yes, he should not say all that shit." He added, recognizing West's virtuosity as musician: "Kanye is the artist, man, and he is a genius … he is not incompatible with what he says.
Chappelle also acknowledged that he regretted encouraging the Americans to be more open – minded towards Trump, who had just been elected. President SNL monologue in 2016. "I said we should give Trump a chance because he's the president of the United States," he explained. "I should not have said that shit." Hey, at least he's not the only one to have SNL regrets.
