No, it was not the actor David Schwimmer who was stealing beer at a restaurant in Blackpool, England on October 20th.

The hilarity ensued when the Facebook page of the Blackpool Police shared a photo on Tuesday From a suspect flying a load of beer cans – that looked terribly like the actor "Friends".

"Do you recognize this man?" the message read, accompanied by a photo of the alleged criminal. "We want to talk to him about a robbery at a Blackpool restaurant on September 20th."

Facebook users responded to the suspect's resemblance to Schwimmer by a wave of jokes about "Friends" in the article's comments.

"I do not think it's that guy's day, his week, his month or even his year …" wrote a commentator, referring to the beloved theme song of the series.

"Leave him, he's grown up with Monica, IF YOU HAVE NOT MISSED QUICKLY, YOU HAVE NOT EATENED," we read in another comment, referring to another well-known quote from Friends".

The Blackpool police page also responded to the joking comments, confirming that the suspect could not actually be Schwimmer.

"Thank you all for your quick answers," reads the comment. "We thoroughly investigated this case and confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on that date, and we apologize that this is so."

The Blackpool police did not confirm whether a victim was fleeing for the crime.
