David Schwimmer, star of "Friends," swears that he is not coveted for a nap in the UK.
"The officers, I swear it was not me," wrote Schwimmer in a video posted on Instagram, drawing fans and cops to look for a beer thief who shares a strange resemblance to the star of the television of the 90s.
"As you can see, I was in New York. At the Blackpool Police who works hard, good luck in the investigation. "
In the grainy and monitored video, we see Schwimmer rushing down an alley of bodegas in the city strangely holding a box of large silver cans as he walks away from the camera. Like his British doppelganger, he is dressed in black and looks up at the camera before leaving the store.
The playful response video comes a day after the Blackpool police posted on Facebook a screen shot of an alleged beer thief, provoking an international joke because of its resemblance to Schwimmer.
The Facebook post has been flooded with more than 150,000 comments from fans on the other side of the pond.
Schwimmer's video was viewed nearly 300,000 times.
