Nick Fury would probably have been sad if the character had not come out in the most imaginable way of Sam Jackson. How can you be sad when the guy says "Muthaf —-" while he's dusted off? It was the vintage Samuel L.
In addition to the comic outlet line, the dusting of Fury was not quite said, as it brought hope for the future and the teasing of one of the characters the more expected from Marvel.
While he was saying goodbye to this world, Fury sent the message to Captain Marvel, basically ushering in the next wave of the Marvel film universe. It's hard to be sad about it.
For many of the same reasons as Fury, the release of Maria Hill has not been a great source of concern. Cobie Smulders has sold it pretty well, but our attention has been focused elsewhere.
Not only was Maria not really a key figure in the franchise (her death yielding far less tears than Coulson's), but anyone who watched this film could not leave the eyes of Samuel L. Jackson because he was clear that his actions were going to be important.
Unfortunately, Maria Hill did not have exactly "a correct exit", like other characters, but no one really complains.
It is certainly sad to think that an entire family was wiped out all at once, but the shock that accompanied the moment prevented us from really getting excited. All this was a huge surprise, taking everyone by surprise.
The scene was not very sad because of the context of the rest of the film. In Infinity War, the break was a moment that had built for the entire movie, we all felt the weight when the characters began to disappear. A few months later, after watching a heist comedy, the loss of Hank, Hope and Janet was simply a "Wait … WHAT HAPPENED ?!" kind of situation.
Doctor Strange is a character that everyone likes, and no one wanted to see him leave, but his farewell was another goodbye that included clues and enigmatic promises for the future.
Unlike all the others who died of the breakup, Strange was not at all confused. He was scared. It was all part of the future that he saw and he knew he had to trust Tony and the other Avengers to rectify things.
"There was no other way" remains an immensely powerful line, but it's not really sad either.
From one side, watching a group of Wakandans soldiers sinking into the dust was not so sad as we did not know any of their names. These were just bodies that helped show that the breakup was not something that happened only to the Avengers who were nearby.
On the other hand, this scene was incredibly sad thanks to M & # 39; Baku. The pain and confusion on Winston Duke's face really made it clear that there were people around the galaxy who watched whole groups of people whom they loved disappearing into the air. It was his acting skills that made everyone understand how widespread this chaos was, putting us all in his place.
The dust of Peter Quill is a little difficult to classify here. Like Nick Fury, Star-Lord came out with a somewhat comical performance, which makes it a little harder to be sad for his release.
But Quill is also a favorite character of the franchise and his loss is a blow to anyone. Guardians of the Galaxy is undeniably the most emotional franchise in the MCU. We are all naturally more attached to the characters of these films. Quill had an incredibly depressing bow during Infinity War, and this goodbye was the icing on the cake.
The sadness of Sam's death comes completely from the context in which he was sprinkled. If you remember, he's lying on the floor and disappears almost instantly, just as Rhodey goes looking for him.
This sequence may not be sad on its own, but it puts things in perspective of what is happening in the world. Imagine having no idea what happened, then suddenly worry that your friends or family suddenly disappear.
It's a terrifying thought and makes this sequence a lot more depressing.
I am going to bring Drax and Mantis together for this ranking simply because their disappearance took place at the same time. It was almost like a joint dismissal, if you will.
As with Quill, the deaths of Mantis and Drax have been difficult to swallow, as we are all connected to the Guardians franchise. When they were swept away, having already lost Gamora and Groot, viewers realized that the Guardians were almost all gone. It was a total punch in the theaters.
It could have been even sadder if one or the other had survived, interrupting the emerging romance between the two.
Bucky was the first to leave and his dust took everyone by surprise. Audible gasps could be heard in the theater when this sequence took place.
More than the initial shock of losing a beloved character, Bucky's death hurt him so much because he was sharing the moment with Steve. These two films were the greatest platonic love story of any Marvel film universe, and we saw them go to war against each other and during the movie. one for the other for almost ten years. Steve having to watch his best friend disappear was a painful sight.
What made things really heartbreaking was the fact that Bucky called Steve for help when he died. Their friendship began with Bucky looking for Steve in New York when they were younger. The story has been wrapped up in the last two movies since Steve had to deal with Bucky and he has always managed to succeed in this area. He protected Bucky from the government, Avengers and a form of twisted mind control.
But even Steve could not save Bucky this time, and that one thought is enough to make any Marvel fan cry.
Scarlet Witch is sneaky, because her death does not seem so sad the first time you look at her. The man that she loves is gone, and now she is going away too. The end.
However, when you pay more attention to his scene, it is a direct tragedy.
What makes all this so sad, is to look at Wanda's face and realize that she had already given up on life. While she turned out to be one of the most powerful Avengers, the love of her life was gone and she did not want to exist without him. The result is a disturbing, heartbreaking smile that runs through her face just as she begins to fade.
You could argue that it is this scene that makes the whole movie work. If this sequence does not act exactly as it is, the snap-in does not seem as devastating and War of Infinity as a whole is less effective. It was the moment that brought everything together.
Fortunately for Marvel, Danai Gurira is a good interpreter.
T & # 39; Challa being killed is deeply upsetting, especially because the whole world was still climbing the summit of Black Panther when War of Infinity has been freed. However, dusting alone is not enough. This is the complete and total despair on Okoye's face that makes everything fall apart.
Gurira alone has made us feel her pain, and this kind of performance is incredibly rare in a blockbuster of this magnitude. Because of the way she transmitted Okoye's anguish, the world around us collapsed at that time and we were all ready to be completely shattered.
Groot's death was so difficult to watch for a number of reasons. Above all, he had to bid farewell to his best friend and father figure. For Groot, it's a pretty tough thing, but for Rocket it's even worse. He has already seen Groot die once. Then he raised a new Groot, only to see him undress a few years later.
On top of that, Groot's scene is hurting so much because it was the moment that directly followed T & # 39; Challa. Remember what I just said about Okoye's reaction and how he broke all the barriers that prevent us from crying in movie theaters?

Of course, the saddest moment of War of Infinityand perhaps across the MCU, Peter Parker is asking for help in Tony Stark's arms.
During two films, Peter was apprenticed to Tony and wanted nothing more than the adoration and respect of his mentor. Tony does his best to protect the young hero by telling him to stay in New York when he leaves the space. But, as we all expected him to do, Peter follows anyway. As Tony said earlier in the movie, "If you die, it's on me."
The setting up of this death was extraordinary, resulting in an incredibly painful scenario, but it would not have landed well if Tom Holland had not presented the defining performance of his promising young career.
Peter beggar "I do not want to go" to the only father figure in his life is frighteningly genuine and sincere. He really expresses the fact that he is a teenager facing his own mortality. He turns around and the pain is over when he looks Tony in the eye and says, "I'm sorry." Even in death, Peter is afraid to let the person down who wants to be proud of him.
I have seen this film probably a dozen times now, and I still can not watch this moment without tearing myself apart. I am convinced that I am not the only one.
