Death of Medtronic founder Earl Bakken

The founder of Medtronic, Earl Bakken, died today at the age of 94.

He died at home in Hawaii.

He was born in Minneapolis and studied at the University of Minnesota.

Bakken wrote the history of medicine by inventing the first portable and battery powered external stimulator. This invention was the launch pad for Medtronic, one of the largest companies in the world.
