Two visitors discovered a decaying human head in the backyard of a home in Oakland, California on Friday, and this macabre discovery could be linked to a case that took place on the month the latest in which a headless body was found in the area, the authorities said.
Visitors took the skull to a police station, where authorities opened an investigation to determine if there had been a criminal act, the Oakland Police Department said.
"The human skull has been brought to our attention. We called the coroner to take them out for a look, then we gathered troops and went to the place where they found this thing, "the homicide detective from Oakland, Sgt. Michael Cardoza told FOX 2 of the Bay Area.
Police told the San Francisco Chronicle that she searched the common yard of the three-apartment building and interviewed residents. No one living in the building immediately became involved, the police said.
One resident told the newspaper that loiterers are frequent in the area and that they sometimes jump fences on nearby properties.
Another told FOX 2 that the police had temporarily arrested him.
"They come to my house while I'm eating," said Manul Adrow, a resident of the resort. "They come in and tell me something about a head. I do not know anything about any head. "
The Chronicle reported that the police were investigating whether the human head was attached to a "deeply decomposed" headless body found "near" by the end of September.
The Alameda County Coroner's Office is working to identify the head and determine if it is a headless body.
