Defenders of the Walking Dead season 9: Alpha in the new dangerous star Angela Kang | TV and radio | Showbiz & TV

The Walking Dead has stopped with Chef Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) ending the story of All Out War in a very unexpected way.

After the death of Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs), the former sheriff decided not to murder the evil psychopath Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) on behalf of his son.

In doing so, Rick caused a terrible quarrel with his closest friends and allies, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan).

While viewers are waiting to see how Rick and Maggie will emerge from the hugely popular series, new host Angela Kang has hinted that these events could take place.

In a recent interview, the executive producer shed some light on what awaits the beloved characters.

Angela told Radio Times: "This is a new chapter in history.

"And this being The Walking Dead, there is always a danger at every turn."

The writer was referring to the new nomad group The Whisperers, which could make the Savior's threats look like child's play.

First, all members of the group disguise themselves as torn zombie flesh, allowing them to move freely between Walkers and the living without being spotted.

The actress Samantha Morton plays the mysterious leader of the Whisperers, Alpha, but she will be joined by an even more frightening character.

Alpha Beta's right-hand man (Ryan Hurst) will also make an appearance in the AMC series and is incredibly attached to his Walker mask. To the point that if someone tries to pull him out, he kills her without hesitation.

Could the Whisperers be the reason for Rick's exit?

Andrew said about the disappointment expressed by the news: "The Walking Dead has really been part of my life. I have been breathing it for 10 years.

"I still regret that history broke, because I believe the new season would have been even bigger if it had not been spoiled at one point."

The star continued, "What we have in store this season is truly remarkable and I am very proud of the work we have done.

"It has always been a whole and will continue to be a whole.

"No one is bigger than history, and this year's story is amazing."

When the series comes back, two years will have passed and Rick will try to build bridges between the groups while Negan stays in jail, but will not it last?

Season 9 of Walking Dead returns to the CMA on Sunday and follows in the UK at 9 pm Monday on FOX. The episodes will be available in streaming on NOW TV.
