The Atlanta Falcons' defense took another blow a week after the 2018 NFL season.

Linebacker Deion Jones was placed on the injured list Tuesday with a foot injury sustained in Thursday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the team said in a statement.

"After last Thursday 's game, Deion reported foot pain, so we sent him for further tests," said head coach Dan Quinn. "We have obtained the results of these tests today and he will unfortunately need a procedure that will require us to place him on the list of injured.

"We are disappointed with Deion, but we expect to pick him up at some point this season, which is all we are looking for in a Falcon player, and even though he will not be in the field to continue to be in our game. building.

Jones, 23, was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2017. He played a pivotal role in Atlanta's defense, both as a running and covering specialist.

Last Friday, the Falcons also announced that Keanu Neal's safety would miss the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
