NEW DELHI: The Delhi government is planning a vaccination campaign in its schools in January to eliminate measles and control rubella.

The measles and rubella vaccination campaign will take place within three to four weeks from 16 January 2019.

"All children between the ages of nine months and less than 15 years old will receive an additional dose of MR vaccine, regardless of their previous immunization status or their history of measles / rubella-like disease," the government said in a letter to its members. schools.

As part of the MR campaign, the health and education departments have joined together to ensure that students and teachers from all schools in Delhi are actively involved in the program.

"This will include an orientation for officers, directors, teachers and students by health department experts.Vaccination will be done in schools during the first two weeks and later in the community through 39, an awareness session, "says the letter.

School leaders were asked to assign teachers to organize and conduct immunization sessions in the school and to coordinate with health workers to organize immunization sessions during school hours. school.
