Delhi's gasoline and CNG pumps closed on Monday

The nearly 400 gasoline pumps and their CNG distribution units in the capital will remain closed on Monday to protest the Delhi government's refusal to reduce VAT on fuel, the Delhi Petrol Dealers Association (DPDA) said in a statement.

There are about 400 gas pumps in Delhi connected by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations, all of which will remain closed for almost 24 hours in protest on October 22 from 6 am and up until midnight. on October 23 at 5 o'clock in the morning. I said.

DPDA President Nischal Singhania said, "On September 4, the central government reduced the petrol and diesel fuel rate by Rs 2.50 per liter, which was followed by a reduction in fuel consumption. Value Added Tax (VAT) by various states, including the neighbors of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, bring relief to their residents.

"But the Delhi government has refused to reduce VAT on both petrol and diesel fuels, making fuel more expensive than the neighboring countries of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh."

In comparison with Delhi, fuel rates in border states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana are cheaper, he said.

Due to high prices in Delhi and low prices in states like UP and Haryana, customers are abandoning gas pumps in Delhi, resulting in a significant drop in sales, said Singhania.

Due to the price difference, diesel sales in Delhi and 25% gasoline fell sharply from 50 to 60% during this quarter, said the president of the DPDA, adding that the 400 pumps Delhi will not buy or sell gasoline, diesel and CNG.

He said that the festival season was the peak season for fuel sales due to the social movements of residents.

"DPDA urges the Delhi government to immediately reduce VAT on gasoline and diesel and encourage commuters to buy Euro VI gasoline and preserve the livelihoods of employees and owners of the pumps Delhi's gasoline, as well as state revenue losses, "the statement said.
