Delta Air Lines apologizes after one of its agents calls the police against a black customer trying to file a damaged baggage claim, according to Yahoo News and Fox News.
In a video Captured by the customer, the agent, nicknamed "Becky claim Baggage" on social networks, refuses to call his manager or give the name of his manager to the customer at the Boston Logan International Airport on August 24th.
Once the agent realizes that she is registered, she calls the police so that she is sent to the baggage area.
"I have a woman who is in my face trying to register and who will not leave the office," says the agent.
"I'm asking for a manager," says the customer.
Delta has published a statement on the information sites, apologizing to the customer for his experience.
"We are taking these situations seriously and we are working directly with this client to use this opportunity to learn from her experience and improve future interactions with clients," the statement said.
The passenger, who did not give her full name for reasons of confidentiality, told Yahoo News on Wednesday that she felt the phone call to the police was racist.
"I think the situation was racial," she said. "I studied criminal justice and sociology and I knew that if I met them, it could have degenerated."
The passenger tweeted an update on the situation On Thursday, Delta denied that the incident was motivated by racial considerations.
She also stated that the company executive with whom she had spoken offered her to pay her bag and give her a $ 300 credit, which she refused.
"I will continue to raise awareness and hope it will not happen again," she added.
