DeMarcus Cousins has not yet played a game for the Golden State Warriors, but he now heads the team's ejections.

Cousins were expelled from the Warriors' bench during the first quarter Friday night game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. According to the show, Cousins would have had a heated discussion with referee Scott Foster, which would have led to a technical foul and to the expulsion.

Cousins has been selected four times and twice on the second team, but he has the well – documented reputation of being impetuous on the pitch and in the locker room. He had been ejected 13 times in his career before Friday night.

After the match, Foster told a pool reporter that Cousins had received a warning for exchanging words with Knicks forward Enes Kanter.

"The cousins were an exception to the decision and were sent off for a technical foul for unsporting behavior," Foster said.

An ejection is normally triggered when a player receives two technical fouls. Foster confirmed that the Cousins had only received one. When asked why the Cousins were ejected at the time, Foster said the officials "just felt like a technician (enough) for a player not participating in the match".

Signed as a free agent during the off season, Cousins travels with the Warriors while he is recovering from a surgery after an Achilles rupture in January. The team announced earlier this week that he is making good progress in his rehabilitation and could begin to be reintegrated into practice "in the near future".

Meanwhile, the Warriors continue to hum in expectation of Cousins. Friday night, Kevin Durant showed a virtuoso performance with 25 points in the fourth quarter while Golden State beat 128-100.
