Demi Lovato's mother celebrates her daughter's recent achievement: The former Disney star has been abstinent for 90 days.
During the episode of this week's Conversations with Maria MenounosDianna De La Garza talked about the healing of her daughter Lovato since her apparent drug overdose on July 24th.
"Yes, she has 90 days [of sobriety]De La Garza revealed: "And I can not be more grateful or proud of her because addiction is an illness, it is a job. It is not easy. There is no shortcut. "
When asked if she knew the extent of Lovato's addiction problems before her hospitalization, the singer's mother replied, "I knew she was not sober, but let me clarify. I did not know what she was doing … because she does not live with me. She is 26 years old. I just knew she was not sober. And that's all I really knew at that time.
After being released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in early August, Lovato entered a rehab center for further treatment. Actress Madison De La Garza, her 16-year-old sister, took stock of the Camp Rock star earlier this month.
"Half is going really well," said Madison on the podcast, Millennium Hollywood with Dakota T. Jones. "She works very hard on her sobriety and we are all incredibly proud of her. This was a folly for our family. That's a lot, but we have lived together a lot."
"Every time we go through something, we always go out 100 times stronger than before," she said of her family's strength. "So, we are so grateful for everything, for the little things."
A source previously told ET that Lovato's family and friends have been a huge source of support for her.
"Half understands that every day is a struggle to stay sober and she is doing everything in her power to regain her current state," said the source. "Half is grateful to be surrounded by so many people who love her and want to see her win."
