Even the woman who has indecent Proposal, "admittedly had trouble seeing her worth.

While accepting her Woman of the Year Award at Friendly House's Annual Luncheon Awards Saturday, Demi Moore opened up a date in her life when a Hollywood happy ending eluded her.

"Early in my career, I was spiraling down a path of real self-destruction, and no matter what successes I had, I just never felt good enough," the 55-year-old said, in footage shared to Twitter by Variety's Marc Malkin. "I had absolutely no value for myself.

"And this self-destructive path," he said, "very quickly brought me to a real crisis point," Moore continued. "But it was not clear at the time the reason – it was divine intervention – two people, who I barely knew, stepped up and took a stand for me and they presented me with an opportunity – that was more like an ultimatum – unless I was dead, that I better show up.

"It gave me a chance to redirect the race of my life, before I destroyed everything," she added. "I'm so grateful, because without that opportunity – without their belief in me – I would not be standing here today."

In a 2012 People magazine piece, the reported "Moore underwent rehab for drug and alcohol abuse in the mid-'80s, when director Joel Schumacher told her to get help before shooting 'St. Elmo's Fire.' "

Praising Friendly House Saturday, Moore said the organization is "that second chance for so many women." Saturday's event was a means to "continue to support the fight against addiction and the celebration of Sobriety," according to the organization's Instagram post.

Moore continues to talk about her self-worth at the event, according to Variety's report.

"Life is certainly not a straight line and I do not think it's a good idea to have a relationship," she said, according to the outlet. "I know that in a moment of great struggle for me, I'm going to be a good teacher. your worth, put down the measuring stick. ' "

Moore added, "Today, I put down the measuring stick, and I thank you for this beautiful acknowledgment and the opportunity to know the value of my worth."

On her own Instagram account, which the "G.I. Jane" star recently started, she called the award a "beautiful honor."
