The Buffalo Bills adopt a new lane at quarterback with Josh Allen dismissed.
Head Coach Sean McDermott announced Wednesday that newly signed veteran Derek Anderson will replace Nathan Peterman, his replacement, against the Indianapolis Colts.
"I think it's the right decision for our football team right now," McDermott said.
Peterman replaced injured Allen in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Houston Texans, but made a decisive six-point decision with a draw tied and a 1:23 win remaining. His interception at the ensuing training sealed the Texans 20-13 victory.
Peterman started the season as a Buffalo starter, but was replaced by Allen in the second half after a 47-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the first week.
Anderson, 35, signed with the Bills last week. He was previously a longtime replacement for the Carolina Panthers.
McDermott said Allen had a sprained elbow but would not require surgery, adding that the injury was considered weekly.
