Marvel's Daredevil returns to Netflix for a third season, but our hero Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) just does not seem as optimistic as before. Daredevil's big villain, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D & # 39; Onofrio), is also back, and Daredevil's allies, Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) are also back.
Comedian Cox, Onofrio, Henson, Woll, Joanne Whalley, Wilson Bethel and Jay Ali, as well as Jeph Loeb, executive producer and head of the Marvel series, presented more details on the new season on Saturday. television.
The panel kicked off with a round-the-horizon tour of all Marvel Netflix shows up to now, including scenes from Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist, and ended with a few moments of the third season of Daredevil.
"At the beginning of season 3, Matt (Murdock) is at his lowest level," said Cox on the panel. "During this trip, he was helped by the wonderful Sister Maggie, played by the wonderful Joanne Whalley, and I have to explore a new side of Matt, a new vulnerability we had never seen before."
In another clip shown on the panel, Sister Maggie helps Matt recover from injuries sustained during Defenders of Marvel. She tends to heal her wounds while he is lying in an infirmary bed in the orphanage in which he grew up – and we learn that she knows that he is Hell Hell's Kitchen and that building collapsed at the end of Defenders left Matt deaf in one ear and without his keen senses.
The new sequence also includes a scene in which Karen tries to convince a skeptical fog that Matt is alive.
"Foggy is trying to find out who he is without Matt, without his best friend," said Henson.
A third video shown on the panel shows Fisk in jail, asking special agent Nadeem (Ali) to negotiate to protect Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer), "the woman he loves".
A fourth video shows Matt facing a team of FBI agents after attacking Fisk's lawyer, Benjamin Donovan, portrayed by Danny Johnson. Fisk's transport is ambushed, but he is rescued by an FBI agent, Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter, played by Wilson Bethel.
"It's the beginning of that kind of strange relationship that develops throughout the season," Bethel told the panel. "Unfortunately for Dex, he is also caught under the wing of Fisk."
Dex finally becomes the new villain known as Bullseye, originally played by Colin Farrell in the movie Daredevil in 2003.
in the new trailer of season 3, which debuted on Thursday, Murdock again faces the villain Fisk. Fisk has just come out of jail and plans to turn Hell's Kitchen against Daredevil.
The trailer ends with a different actor wearing the well-known red mask claiming to be the real daredevil and wreaking havoc on Hell's Kitchen. This could very well be part of Fisk's plan to give the city a new villain.
In previously published images of the new season, Murdock no longer seems to believe in the search for "justice in court", but he now believes that "darkness only responds in the dark". Fans can therefore expect much more violence from Marvel's last conflicting hero.
Season 3 of Marvel's Daredevil debuts on Netflix on October 19th.
