Investigators on Thursday visited Singer Cher's home in Malibu after arresting a man suspected of selling the potent opioid drug fentanyl in Ventura and Los Angeles counties.

Donovan Ruiz, 23, lives in the vast estate located in the 25000 block of the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, according to the Sheriff County Department of Ventura, which is conducting the investigation.

He is the son of an assistant employed by Cher, reports TMZ.

Thursday's bankruptcy was the culmination of a two-week investigation by the Ventura County Sergeant's Office. Matthew Young said in a written statement.

Ruiz is accused of providing fentanyl to "many" users in Ventura County, he added.

"The fentanyl sold by Ruiz was ultimately consumed by a victim in the town of Thousand Oaks, who subsequently suffered an overdose and died," Young said.

After arresting Ruiz in Malibu, the investigators went to the Pacific Coast road with a search warrant, the authorities said.

The interpreter, who is on tour, was not at home.

"During this investigation, the investigators were able to seize evidence related to the sale of illegal substances controlled by Ruiz," said Mr. Young.

Ruiz was charged with selling drugs, said Young. The charge enhancements resulting from overdose death should be added later.

Ruiz's bail was set at $ 500,000. He is scheduled to appear in the Ventura County Superior Court on Monday.
