ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Brett Maher started a 38-yard penalty at the end of the game, allowing the Dallas Cowboys to win a 26-24 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Maher's fourth goal was set by Dak Prescott on 34 yards to attacking halfback Ezekiel Elliott after Matthew Stafford put the Lions in the fore with a 38-yard touchdown on Golden Tate, their second connection of the day.
Elliott racked up 240 career all-time highs with 152 rushing yards and 88 rushing yards. The total total was 1 meter from its best.
The best offensive day of the season for a Dallas offensive, already in trouble, again spoiled the return of Stafford, with his third straight defeat at home Cowboys (2-2). The former star of Dallas and area high school won 307 yards.
Stafford led the Lions (1-3) 75 yards out of rookie Kerryon Johnson's first career touchdown, an 8-yard run that marked the start of the fourth and final quarter.
After the Cowboys settled for Maher's third goal on an 85-yard run, Stafford found Tate 35 yards out of Dallas before Tate easily beat the cover and headed to the end zone, as he had done it on 45 yards. mark in the first quarter.

The touch screen for Elliott was set up by a coarse-handed penalty against Romeo Okwara. The question was whether the whistle had sounded when he had hit Prescott, who was trying to escape the pressure when he stumbled and tried to get on his knees. Prescott appeared but had stopped moving, thinking that he had fallen to the ground, when Okwara hit him on the ground. Officials discussed the game before announcing two defensive penalties. The other was an illegal contact call against Darius Slay.
First career
Dallas receiver Terrance Williams was healthy for the first time in six years. The Cowboys fought for consistency with their catchers in the first season without Jason Witten and Dez Bryant. They have seven receivers on the list of 53 players. Williams was the weird man this week and it's a defeat to practice on Friday.

Lions: RG T.J. Lang did not return after suffering a concussion in the first trimester.
Cowboys: WR Tavon Austin is injured in the right shoulder after dropping a potential touchdown in the first period. He came back in the second half. … DT Antwaun Woods left in the first period with a calf injury. Woods was questionable before the match because of an injury to the groin.
