Mize's signing bonus is $ 7.5 million, which is the highest under the current bonus pool rules. He signed for $ 596,300 under the slot value.

Right-handed pitcher Alex Faedo, first choice of the Tigers in 2017, was also in town to be tested by the University of Michigan as part of a sports science program. The Tigers have already tested a handful of other perspectives.

Right-handed pitcher Franklin Perez, the Tigers' top prospect, also began a rehab on Monday in the Gulf Coast League.

MLB.com's Jason Beck also reported that the Tigers have signed Texas second baseman Kody Clemens, the son of Roger Clemens, seven-time winner of Cy Young. The Tigers drafted Kody Clemens in the third round of the 2018 draft, 79th overall.
