DETROIT – LaFontaine Automotive Group is partnering with the YMCA of Detroit for the Y Healthy Food Basket Program on Saturday at the BMC Family YMCA.

There were all sorts of products outside the YMCA for a good cause – this will give dozens of families in need for Thanksgiving. YMCA staff and downtown Detroit volunteers are doing their part to make this holiday memorable for many families.

"We assemble baskets containing as many local products as possible," said Lauren Bojanowski. "Pantry staples, dairy products, eggs."

And of course, a Thanksgiving favorite – turkeys donated Peacock Farms to Troy.

The food baskets are delivered directly to more than 60 families in need.

"We have a hunger problem that many people are not aware of," Senac said. "When we think about hunger, we think of people who are emaciated or skinny and that is no longer the problem." The problem of hunger is access to food and, thanks to this program, we can actually provide that access to food. "

Especially access to healthy foods. The YMCA has collaborated with local companies, such as the LaFontaine Automotive Group.

"We just love being part of communities and giving back," said Ryan Lafontaine. "All of our dealers and our involvement in the community allow us to make a difference in people's lives and pay for it."

This is the reason for this event: giving back to hundreds of people in the community in time for the holidays.
