At least we did not have to wait to see how much "peripherals" counted to determine what kind of hangover remained. DeAndre Hopkins was targeted 11 times, caught eight and finished with 78 yards, less than you'd expect from him with eight catches. Ja'Whaun Bentley, Deatrich Wise, Lawrence Guy, Dont'a Hightower, Trey Flowers, Kyle Van Noy and Adrian Clayborn played a big part in the success.
THE KICKING GAME
The Patriotes put Riley McCarron on the field. He caught one at the Patriots 6. Not ideal. He smothered another player in the fourth to set up a Texans touchdown that closed the score to seven. Even less ideal. Hunter Ryan Allen defeated the Pats with a superb late bet that was shot by Jonathan Jones' Texans 1. Allen had a very good day. The kick blanket of the Patriots was not so good. Tyler Ervin averaged 31.2 yards on his returns. Stephen Gostkowski was good at 35 and 39.
