Not all states have yet announced their tickets, which means that a greater number of six-issue winners could be present to share the giant jackpot.
According to the California Lottery, eight tickets sold in this state corresponded to five of the six numbers. These tickets were sold in San Luis Obispo, Stockton, Rancho Cucamonga, San Diego, Chatsworth, Arcadia, Norwalk and San Francisco.

The winners of the jackpot have two options. They can either take the jackpot as an annuity or a one-time payment.
The annuity is paid as an immediate payment and then once a year for 29 years. The annual payment increases by 5% each year to account for inflation.
For the $ 1.6 billion jackpot, the cash payment option at a time raises to about $ 905 million.
according to The Washington Post, the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot jackpot were 1 in 302,575,350.
Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery and one of the two largest lottery jackpot games in the United States. The jackpots start at $ 40 million and the smaller prizes range from $ 1 million to $ 2 million or more with a mega-fold. Players choose five numbers from 1 to 75.
The previous record $ 656 million jackpot on March 30, 2012, was shared between winners from Illinois, Kansas and Maryland.
"Mega Millions has already entered the historic territory, but it is truly amazing to think that the jackpot has reached a world record," said Gordon Medenica, senior director of the Mega Millions group and director of Maryland Lottery and Gaming, in a previous release. "It's hard to exaggerate how exciting it is, but now it's really fun."
As the jackpot became larger, lottery players were looking for a benefit. Although the laws of probability mean that each number has exactly the same chance of being chosen, analysts have found that some numbers appear more than others in the lottery results.
LottoNumbers.com analysts studied more than 2,000 random draws between 1996 and 2018 to rank numbers from 1 to 75 depending on how often they were chosen. Seventeen were selected at most 308 times and were recently drawn on October 7th.
Number 17 was followed by 39, chosen 306 times; 31, picked up 305 times; and 4, which was chosen 303 times. From 1996 to 2018, the least likely number to be chosen was 72, which was only drawn 20 times.
