Didi Gregorius, Yankees, suffers from a wrist injury

The New York Yankees, rivals of the Red Sox team and potential opponents of the ALDS, may have lost their stop in the race to end a wrist injury.

Aaron Boone told reporters Sunday that Didi Gregorius tore his right wrist cartilage while slipping home on Saturday, ending his season before the playoffs.

Gregorious hits .268 this season with 27 homers and 86 RBIs.

The Yankees were out of the running for East Asia at the end of July, but they are now in a tight battle to get a field advantage with the Oakland A in the AL Wild Card game.

Losing Gregorius could diminish the Yankees' hopes of winning the Wild Card and progressing in the playoffs.
