Goalkeeper Collin Sexton had more playing time than his teammates Tuesday night when the Cleveland Cavaliers opened their NBA pre-season schedule with a 102-95 win over the Boston Celtics.

Fifteen Cavs played at least 11 minutes in the game. Sexton was leading with 23 minutes on the field in his first NBA pre-season game.

Sexton joined Cleveland from Alabama as the eighth-ranked player in the NBA draft on June 21st.

The Cavs launched George Hill as leader. Sexton came into play while he was 5:16 in the first quarter. Sexton had a little more playing time when Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue sent the rookie back in the fourth quarter, when the Celtics' third unit began to gnaw ahead of the Cavaliers.

"Being in this situation in an NBA environment, an excellent environment facing a good team and having a chance to produce as he did – all the better for him," said Lue. "Keep on learning, he will make mistakes, but the most important thing is to learn from his mistakes."

Sexton scored 15 points, second on the Cavs against 17 for Kevin Love, shooting 5 shots out of 11, including 2 out of 3 to 3 shots, and failed in all three free-throw attempts. Sexton also had four rebounds and a help.

Levi Randolph, another guard from Alabama on the Cavaliers, did not play in Tuesday's game.

Cleveland's four-game pre-season diary continues on Saturday, when he will face the Celtics again, but this time at home.

The Cavaliers will kick off the 2018-19 regular season on Oct. 17 against the Toronto Raptors.
