It seems S.N.L. has been ahead of its season 44 next weekend. A month after the news broke that Luke Null would have not come back as a star player this fall, the revered skit show announced a new cast member: Ego Nwodim. She will do it S.N.L. debut in the first game of the season, alongside four new writers: Alan Linic, Alison Gates, Yang Bowen, and Eli Mandel.

S.N.L.The uncertainty of history with the hiring of black actresses has been scrupulously examined, especially since 2013 – when a long-time cast member Kenan Thompson suggested that there had been no black woman in the show for years because the series was struggling to find black women "ready" to S.N.L. The resulting controversy led to S.N.L. to conduct a high-level research for the talent of black women, which ended with Sasheer Zamata and Leslie Jones join the show. Although Jones is still on S.N.L. Last year, Zamata left the show very discreetly – although the show was Bobby Moynihan and Vanessa Bayer goodbye with a big fanfare. When Nwodim debuts, all eyes will probably be on how and how often S.N.L. chooses to deploy it.

Nwodim – whose first name, for the record, is pronounced "Eggo" – already has a rather impressive summary. Two years ago, the Montreal Just for Laugh comedy festival called him one of his new comedy figures. She also recorded some remarkable appearances on Comedy Bang! Stroke!, and last year she played her show of a woman, Big black women. . . and then there is me to a sold-out audience at the UCB Theater. As an actress, Nwodim is best known for her character work – which should be helpful in her new job.

The editorial staff will also see a reshuffle: Michael Che, Colin Jost, and Kent Sublette will come back as co-writers this season, Bryan Tucker, the fourth co-writer last year, he will move to a senior editor position. Among the new writers, Bowen Yang could be the most exciting addition: he is well known on Twitter for his incredible ability to synchronize lips, and seems to share a comic sensibility with the current S.N.L. standout writer Julio Torres. Alison Gates, Alan Linic and Eli Mandel, as many of S.N.L.The biggest, all come from the second city of Chicago; Gates and Linic also played at the Second City Theater. Linic and his wife, Clear, have also published a book for couples titled Our perfect wedding Overall, this group of authors owns several people who appear to be on the scene if the situation demands it.

The first 44 season of S.N.L. broadcast on NBC on 29 September.
