Disney as a final resting place? The report says parks are a popular place to spread ashes
A new report says that Walt Disney World in Orlando and Disneyland California are extremely popular places to spread the ashes of their loved ones.
According to a Wall Street Journal article, scattering of ashes has become so commonplace in Disney parks that employees use a code word to signal when a park guest has scattered ashes cremated somewhere in a park.
"HEPA cleaning" corresponds to the code call. HEPA refers to the high efficiency particulate air filter, the type of vacuum cleaner needed to suck the ashes.
A Disney spokesman told the Journal that anyone caught spraying ashes would be escorted out of the property, but several people told the newspaper that they had done it anyway.
"The haunted mansion probably contains so much human ashes that it's not even funny," said a Disneyland guard.
The Journal reported that guests were putting ashes in pills or plastic bags hidden in purses or backpacks.
