NEW YORK (AP) A new study estimates that by looking for consumer websites, about 60% of the US population with European heritage can be identified from their DNA, even if they have never made available their own genetic information.
This number is expected to increase as more and more people upload their DNA profiles to websites that use DNA analysis to find loved ones.
The estimate was reported in the Thursday issue of the journal Science. The researchers arrived there by searching a database of websites containing 1.28 million people.
