A Domino's Pizza employee in Burlington was fired after writing a misspelled racial slur on a customer's receipt.

Myasia Nelson, 20, and her family went to Domino's Pizza, 2447 N. St. Church, on Monday, Oct. 1, to order two pizzas and a side of chicken. When the order went up on the board, Nelson, who is black, saw a misspelled racial slur in place of her name. The slur was also on her receipt.

"I looked up, and I pointed it out to my sister. She did not believe me at first because of the Domino's advertising screen, "said Nelson. "It popped back up. That's when I was in shock. "

Nelson got her mother and friend, who is trying to be funny, who is white?

"Nobody seemed to say anything. I know his manager was talking to him and he was laughing about it at first, "said Nelson. "We canceled the whole order and left."

Junior Snyder, the district manager for Domino's, claims the slur was a spelling mistake. Nelson disputed that, saying her name sounds and is spelled nothing like what he wrote on the order.

"Trying to say it was a misspelling – I do not know where he got that from," said Nelson. "… I am being told he did not know how to spell, and then I am being told that it was a misspelling and all these other excuses."

Snyder confirmed Wednesday, Oct. 3, that the employee, Russell Brady, was fired.

"That's not who we are nor what we put up with," Snyder said. "We were investigated after we were told, and we let the employee go. It is not who we are, and it is not what we do. We do not tolerate it, and are not going to tolerate it. "

Snyder added that he was offered a $ 50 gift card, which she turned down.

"My name is worth more than $ 50. I am not what he called me, "said Nelson.

Nelson said she will never eat Domino's pizza again, even though she is a long-time fan and customer of the chain.

"I was pretty hurt. I felt disrespected, "Nelson added. "I never thought it was going to happen to me. I learned my lesson from that. "
