Donald Trump Jr. did not want to accept PETA's suggestion about Halloween costumes – and took Twitter to let them know.

On Thursday, the vegan organization tweeted a photo of a camouflaged hunter wearing a hat labeled "Donald Trump Jr.", attacked by a leopard. PETA said it was a reference to Donald Trump Jr. and his brother Eric Trump, the trophy hunting photo where the men posed with a dead leopard.

"In a twist on the horrible trophy hunting picture that shows the Trump brothers smiling while hugging the body of a dead leopard – this time the leopard wins! Pre-order the NEW PETA Limited Edition @DonaldJTrumpJr #Halloween costume. http://peta.vg/2bco", Read the tweet.

According to the PETA website, the costume product will support "rescue work for wild animals".

Trump Jr. saw the mocking suit and took Twitter to slam PETA, calling the organization "hypocrites" and saying that it was an "animal slaughter plant".

"Ironically, there are few organs in the world that have as much animal blood as PETA. You, hypocrites, are literally an animal slaughter plant.

"In the past 11 years, PETA has killed 29,426 dogs, cats, rabbits and other pets," read the tweet before linking to a 2013 Huffington Post article highlighting PETA's euthanasia policy.

PETA refused an additional comment to Fox News, but responded to Donald Trump Jr.'s tweet with a jab on their own, calling the president's son "creep" and describing their politics as a "merciful release."

A few years ago, PETA was criticized for its euthanasia practices. According to the Washington Post, in 2015, PETA euthanized 81% of the animals brought to its shelter in Virginia.

PETA defended its policy, saying the numbers are high because they take animals to other "no-kill" shelters that are turning away – the critically ill, aggressive or pest-infested, reports the Post.

According to a blog posted on PETA's website in February 2018, they continue to explain that the high mortality rate is to alleviate the suffering of animals.

"Most of the animals we took and euthanized could hardly be called" pets "because they had spent their entire life writing or chaining outside. They were not socialized, having never been inside a building of any kind or having ever had a scratch behind the ears. Others were indeed beloved companions, but they were old, sick, wounded, dying, aggressive or could not be adopted.
