The United States Marine Corps celebrated its 243rd birthday on Saturday, drawing the wishes of organizations and leaders from the country and beyond.

At the top of the list was President Donald Trump, who celebrated the anniversary of the "GREAT US Marine Corps" on Twitter.

The president's tweet was accompanied by a picture of himself visiting the Air Force Marine Station Air Station Miramar Air Base in California, as well as another message commemorating the anniversary of the military branch.

Vice President Mike Pence, whose son, Michael, is a sailor, also posted a tweet to mark the anniversary of the service.

The Office of National Intelligence Director Dan Coats also published a commemorative tweet illustrating an annual tradition on the occasion of the Marine Corps anniversary.
